Bikolano Traits: A Tourist Magnet by Mia Latagan

Tourism is a service-oriented industry. It is mandatory that the customers feel the service, that it is also be delivered with efficiency and quality.

In Bikol, we have these distinguishing qualities that make tourists endearing to us. What are they? Read on the list. :)

Honesty

Bikolano's are honest people, who make good in their deals. They will return little things you have left behind, give you the right amount of change, etc.

Peace Loving

As said about the recently added cultural attraction in Naga, the PLAZA DE NUEVA CACERES, the Bikolanos are people who loves peace. They accepted the new Faith introduced to them, and at the time of the Philippine Revolution, Bikol was unaffected.

Friendly

Also, relating to the said monument, it reveals also the friendliness of the Bikolanos.

Religious

We see the intensity of this trait in the endearment that the whole region has for Ina, Our lady of Penafrancia. During September, people will flock to Naga, mostly Bikolanos from far away places (balikbayans) to pay homage to the Virgin.

COME....CALABANGA is WAITING!!!!

well well well..since everyone in our class have already mentioned most of the events, tourist spots, destinations and other amazing places here in our region, let me also present to you my very own, my home town "CALABANGA" home of Amang Hinulid.

Calabanga is well known because of the Hinulid Shrine, which became the destination of all the pilgrims every April of the year in celebrating the Holy Week. It is also known as the "Alay lakad" where thousands of pilgrims walk from different places, neighboring Towns and Cities to Hinulid Shrine. The faith and beliefs by the pilgrims to "Amang Hinulid" as a miraculous savior is one of the reasons why thousands of pilgrims visits the shrine. From the City of Naga it is about 11 kilometers before you can reach the "Hinulid Shrine" quite a walk hmmm. Also Old churches that are made of stones can be seen in Calabanga. some of the church are built in the 1570's and still standing up until now. One of them is the Immaculate Concepcion Parish of Quipayo that was bulit in the year 1578 "my place" =). Calabanga is rich in religious sites that is why it was tagged as the pilgrim town of Camarines Sur.

Calabanga is also a place to visit not just because of its religious sites and events, also Calabanga can  offer tourists a place to relax and have fun. In 2010, The Village or known as the LRV-Agri Science Farm and Resort located at San Bernardino Calabanga Camarines Sur was opened to the public to serve a more relaxing environment and an Eco-Friendly environment for pleasure where you can swim, harvest vegetables, fishing, boat rides, spa/massage, camping and  many more activities to be made in just one place. Unlike CWC, The Village offers a different kind of activity that will suit and satisfy the needs and wants of the locals and foreign tourists.

So what are you waiting for!!! Its more Fun in Calabanga!!! VISIT and SEE it for YOURSELF!!!
